Meetings Diva This Week

Every time I look at the “Members” headshots on the front page, I can’t get over how good-looking you all are. (Yes, this is sucking up, but I mean it.) Seeing such a smiling and accomplished crowd makes me happy to have started Meetings Diva.

On the down side, however, most of you are wall flowers! The community never hears from you. You could be marketing your services, selling your wares, asking for advice, or at least telling me off.

Let’s have a round of introductions. If you haven’t already, please add a short bio to the “About Me” discussion (with your Twitter Tag), so the community can get to know you better.

This is my second week of monetizing, and I’m still getting off the ground with it. I joined Linkshare and signed up for products and services that are community-appropriate (unlike the Match.com and Creditscore.com ads that Ning used to send our way), but I soon learned that just dropping banner ads onto pages was completely inadequate. Instead, I’ve started a “Gifts & Incentives” catalog Under “Marketplace.” It’s not exactly intuitive, but it’s searchable. Please take a look and let me know what you think and, if you feel the urge, BUY SOMETHING. I’ll be expanding it soon.

Also, I’m interested to know what you think of my latest article, Meetings 101: Building a better NYC stay with e-discounts. I’m sure the Groupon model can be leveraged better for groups, but no one seems to have employed it.
